We’ll be continuing with the work we did here last week, removing the invasive and non-native Buddleia bushes in the area behind the cement works. Over the winter we’ve been making great progress, steadily working on cutting and removing invasive and non-native plants in this area of Upton Towans. If left, these plants outcompete the native dune plants and start to dominate the dune grassland. Removing these invasive and non-natives gives the native dune plants a chance to thrive.
This session runs 10am – 2pm.
General information for practical conservation sessions: We recommend wearing stout footwear and clothing suitable for working outside in the exposed environment of the Towans. Do bring a spare layer, hat and full waterproofs and sun cream (if it’s going to be sunny). We supply biscuits, please bring your own hot/cold drinks and lunch.
Please book in advance so we can make sure we bring enough tools & biscuits and know to contact you if we need to cancel the session.
