Practical conservation session – St Gothian Sands

This is our last session before Christmas so we’ll be having a little festive celebration. We’ll cook some jacket potatoes in the fire (weather permitting) and share some festive snacks. There will also be the chance to carry on with the gorse cutting we started here back in November – clearing some of the gorse gives the surrounding dune grassland a chance to regenerate.

You can pop by just for the social (11am onwards) with no obligation to get involved with the practical work – please do let us know if you’re planning on coming so we can let you know if we have to retreat to the village hall because of the weather!

This session runs 10am – 2pm.

General information for practical conservation sessions:  We recommend wearing stout footwear and clothing suitable for working outside in the exposed environment of the Towans.  Do bring a spare layer, hat and full waterproofs (and sun cream if it’s going to be sunny). We supply biscuits, please bring your own hot/cold drinks and lunch.

Please book in advance so we can make sure we bring enough tools & biscuits and know to contact you if we need to cancel the session.

Date of Session: 16/12/2025

Meeting at: St Gothian Sands main entrance (parking in roadside lay-bys or Gwithian Green car parks)
