Working in partnership with Cormac Countryside Team, who manage Gwithian Towans, we’ll be following up from some excavator work that was carried out to control some patches of invasive plants. The excavators have done the bulk of the work, digging and burying the invasive plants in-situ. We’ll be going around the edges of the patches collecting up any remains of the invasive plants, including Montbretia, Cotoneaster, Privet and Blackthorn. If left, these plants can outcompete the native dune plants and start to dominate this area of the dunes.
This session runs 10am – 2pm.
General information for practical conservation sessions: We recommend wearing stout footwear and clothing suitable for working outside in the exposed environment of the Towans. Do bring a spare layer, hat and full waterproofs and sun cream (if it’s going to be sunny). We supply biscuits, please bring your own hot/cold drinks and lunch.
