Join us for a guided walk with Jason Appleby, land agent and site manager of Mexico Towans to look at the history, wildlife and management of Mexico Towans. The guided walk will take about one and a half to two hours.
After the guided walk, we will carry out some simple 10 minute insect pollinator surveys. These Flower-insect timed counts are part of the UK Pollinator Monitoring Scheme and provide valuable information on the how the UK’s pollinator populations are changing. Pollinating insects play a vital role in our environment, ensuring that many of our crops and wild plants are able to set seed and produce fruit.
This session runs 10am – 2pm.
General information for wildlife and conservation sessions: We recommend wearing stout footwear and clothing suitable for being outside in the exposed environment of the Towans. Do bring a spare layer, hat and full waterproofs and sun cream (if it’s going to be sunny). We supply biscuits, please bring your own hot/cold drinks and lunch.
Please note there is no parking on Mexico Lane – one of our volunteers has kindly offered parking at their house – please let us know if you need parking when you book
Please book in advance so we can make sure we bring enough equipment & biscuits and know to contact you if we need to cancel the session.
