Event Details: Join Friends of the Towans Art Club for a relaxed summer fete raising money for the charity and celebrating the dunes, their wildlife, and the families who took part in Seeing and Tasting Like an Insect. The Towans — the Cornish word for sand dunes — stretch from Hayle to Gwithian and are one of Cornwall’s most important habitats. Our Art Club helps people connect with this landscape through creativity and sensory ecology.
Doors open at 10.30am with cream teas, cake and art books.
From 11.00–1.00pm we’re running a free card‑making workshop inspired by umbellifers and other insect‑magnet wildflowers. Materials provided; donations welcome. To book, email friendsofthetowansartclub@gmail.com.
At 3.00pm we’ll show the first public screening of Seeing and Tasting Like an Insect, a short film made with families exploring how insects sense the dunes through colour, movement, taste and scent.
The raffle is at 4.00pm and the fete closes at 5.00pm. Everyone is welcome. Please bring cash.
Supported by Cornwall Council, Feast, Creative Kernow, Arts Council England, Gwinear‑Gwithian Sustainable Community Fund, Jolly Goodh, Budding Nature, Little Parc Owles Trust and Friends of the Towans.
