Wildlife session – St Gothian Sands

We’ll be carrying out some simple insect pollinator surveys. These Flower-Insect Timed counts are part of the UK Pollinator Monitoring Scheme and provide valuable information on the how the UK’s pollinator populations are changing. Pollinating insects play a vital role in our environment, ensuring that many of our crops and wild plants are able to set seed and produce fruit.
You don’t need to have specific plant or insect ID expertise to take part – we carry out the surveys together and aim to learn together (but if you can tell bees from wasps, or hoverflies from other flies then we’d love you to share your experitise with us!)

This session runs 10am – 2pm.

General information for wildlife sessions:  We recommend wearing stout footwear and clothing suitable for being outside in the exposed environment of the Towans.  Do bring a spare layer, hat and full waterproofs and sun cream (if it’s going to be sunny). We supply biscuits, please bring your own hot/cold drinks and lunch.

Please book in advance so we can make sure we bring enough tools & biscuits and know to contact you if we need to cancel the session.
